Somehow I missed the fact that my last post was my 300th post! Woohoo, I finally hit 300! Of course this isn’t counting my posts on blog-city that I archived here. It’s so funny when I go back and read those because I can see how much I’ve changed over the past 5 years. It seems like a million years ago that I started blogging.

My Friend KT (Katie)
This morning, one of my best friends is having surgery. She’s actually under the knife as I type this. Though surgery isn’t something new for KT, this surgery in particular is and I know that she was pretty nervous about it. I didn’t really let on that I was, for her sake, but it’s been at the front of my mind for a while now.
KT is one of those people that you can’t help but love. No matter whether you’ve known her for 20 years, or 2 minutes, she just has that effect on people.
KT was born in Hungary 40 years ago and came to the US when she was 17 or 18 ( I think). She’s got the most awesome accent that makes us all smile – especially when she cusses in Hungarian. lol. KT has always been a hard worker, taking on whatever job and as many jobs as possible in order to live a comfortable life. She’s worked her way up at her company and is now in a pretty secure position with great pay and benefits. She owns her own home, and has always taken care of her family who also immigrated from Europe.
KT is 10 years older than me and since we’ve met I’ve always looked up to her (even though I’m taller- heh) and felt like she was a big brother of sorts (yes, she’s butch, so butch she makes me look girly in fact
). There was a time a few years ago when KT and I weren’t talking. Of course there were reasons that I won’t get into, but I will tell you that when that happened, I felt that I had lost something hugely important and I missed her friendship more than she might realize. I’m really glad that we were able to get past all of that and salvage the friendship. I honestly feel like we are closer now than we were before.
KT looks out for her friends and is very loyal. She’s a caretaker by nature and loves to do kind and thoughtful things for the people in her life. In fact, I think that’s what she lives for. Seriously.. that whole shirt off her back thing- that’s KT to a T. Whenever anyone in her life is in need of anything, she is all over it. She’s a classic old school gentleman.
As long as I’ve known KT, she’s had horrible luck with women. People took advantage of KT’s kindness.. that is until recently when she met her girlfriend Amanda. I’ve been watching KT and Amanda’s relationship progress from friends who went on “dates” but they weren’t dates, to “ok, it’s a date, dates”, to courting oldschool butch-femme style, to commitment. Everything in her life seems to be going well, she’s got true love, family, friends who are her family, a good, solid job. I have to tell you I’ve never seen KT so happy and fulfilled. This surgery is the tail end of the beginning of the rest of KT’s life. I see so many good things for KT from here on out and I’m happy to know that I’ll be able to continue to see her thrive and flourish for many, many years to come.
Get well soon my bro. I love you.
