A quick update since I haven’t posted yet in July.

I’ve been sticking with the 3 day a week weight lifting.  I am proud of the results I’m seeing in myself so far.  I feel stronger every time I’m at the gym.   We are doing a workout that is broken up into three days.  Day 1 is definitely tough, and the second time I did Day 1 it was much easier for me to complete it.  Day 2 has a lot of push ups/ dips and since I’m not yet ready to do push ups in public I have been practicing those when I get time at home and I think that I’ve been making some progress.  Being able to do multiple consecutive push-ups is my short term goal. I have been using the dip machine at the gym and the second Day 2 it was easier than the first.

Upper body strength has always been something that I did not possess. I always blamed it on the size of my chest prior to my reduction surgery, but since surgery I have done not a damn thing to try and improve it.   My arms were like limp noodles.. no joke.  So the fact that I can actually see muscles in my arms already is giving me the motivation that I need to continue. Well that and the fact that I have really enjoyed it.  I’m hoping to be able to do proper push-ups by the time I have my hysterectomy in August.

Speaking of my hysterectomy.  My surgery date is set for Aug. 24th.  Now I’m just waiting for word from my Dr. telling me whether or not the insurance company will cover it. *fingers crossed*  Since I have a medical reason, I really hope they don’t make this difficult.

I self-injected my 4th shot of T this week.  That was not pleasant.  It hurts more in the thigh than it does in the glute.

So far the changes that I and others have noticed:

  1. My voice is dropping.  Tina says that I am staying at the lowest part of my register (before T) all the time now.  That the voice I have now has always been there just not used as much.  I feel like it’s raspier with a little rattle that is almost like a tickle in my throat.  I find that I’m clearing my throat alot.  Ehem.
  2. My co-worker thinks that my face has started to look more masculine and that I look broader from behind when I’m sitting at my desk.  I think she’s just looking for stuff.  We’ll see when I take my 1 mo pics next week.
  3. TMI alert.  I can tell you that it IS true that the first changes that are noticable are below the waist.  I will not elaborate on that other than to say that I surprised myself with that fact.
  4. Muscles are definitely seeming to be larger than they were.  I know a big part of that is that I’m actually working out, but I guess they seem wider than they were in the past.

Stay tuned for my next adult toy review which should be posted tonight!

Can I just say, this is fascinating the sh!t outta me! You sound pleased so far, and I’m happy for you.

I’m sorry I keep screwing up the pronouns…..I know your cool with it, but i get soooo pissed at myself when I keep screwing up and saying “she”. It just comes out of my mouth about 2 seconds before my brain says, “HE, stupid!”…..LOL

It sounds like things are moving pretty fast on the physical level. Congrats. BTW – can you take the T shot in the abdomin instead of the thigh? I’ve had some diabetic friends who said that the Ab is actually one of the least painful places for shots.

Pushups… Start out doing the “normal” pushup, do as many as you can… even if its only one, and then drop to your knees and keep going. if you keep good form you will see that you will slowly start being able to do more of the regular ones. Push-ups are also a great way to finish exhausting your chest muscles after doing bench presses. You wont be able to do many, but its a safer way to push to exhaustion beyond what you can press.

    ;)

It’s really good to hear such a positive update. You sound *happy* and that’s lovely. Bodies are amazing things and I’m sure that you’ll go from strength to strength with the gym stuff – no pun intended. Well, Ok, maybe! Hope that your hysterectomy gets sorted with the insurance. With love QRx

nice work! push-ups, damn, they’re never easy. but the girls love ‘em. ;)
will be interested to hear more about your voice… i remember our discussion about the ‘family half-octave’. i wonder when that will become physically impossible, as well as emotionally not so necessary, if that makes sense? anyway, voices are fascinating to me, so keep us posted.
